MY APPROACH
PSYCHODYNAMIC COUNSELLING
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on both the past and present, looking at the role of the unconscious and past experiences and how this influences current behaviour. I work by helping you identify and recognise how emotional patterns from early childhood may repeat themselves in later life in confusing or destructive ways.
I work with a wide range of issues such as: relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, bereavement, trauma and work-related problems, as well as the many other issues which may be impacting your quality of life and emotional wellbeing.
I offer a non-judgmental, safe, confidential and supportive place to talk about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. I will draw upon my Psychodynamic background and also use my CBT and mindfulness resources in order to give you the tools and the self-confidence to begin moving forward.
I believe that each client is unique and so my approach encourages the client to lead the work, enabling the therapy to be tailored to each individual client and their specific needs.
I will work with you to explore your thoughts and feelings, helping you to understand where they may have come from and how they may be affecting your life and relationships in the here and now. Through the insight gained comes the opportunity for change and the chance to lead a healthier, happier life.
